An ultrasonic probe is a device that transmits and receives ultrasonic waves during ultrasonic testing. The performance of the probe directly affects the characteristics of the ultrasonic wave and affects the detection performance of the ultrasonic wave. The probe used in ultrasonic testing is a transducer that uses the piezoelectric effect of materials to convert electrical energy and sound energy. The key component in the probe is the wafer, which is a single crystal or polycrystalline sheet with piezoelectric effect, and its function is to convert electrical energy and acoustic energy into each other. Structure: Take the piezoelectric transducer probe as an example, it is mainly composed of piezoelectric wafer, damping block, cable, connector, protective film, shell, and wedge. Chip: transmit and receive ultrasonic waves by piezoelectric effect. Different shapes and material uses; damping block: damping the vibration of the wafer. Absorbs the ultrasonic waves emitted by the wafer to its back; protective film: protects the wafer and the electrode layer from being worn, and improves the coupling between the probe and the test piece; wedge: makes the ultrasonic wave obliquely incident on the detection surface, so that the ultrasonic waves reflected by multiple times no longer return to the wafer . Commonly used ultrasonic probes Commonly used ultrasonic probes: ultrasonic probe probe type, wafer size, function, and use conditions are basically divided into straight probes, inclined probes, dual-element probes, and focusing probes. Commonly used in flaw detection are single crystal straight probes, double crystal straight probes and oblique probes. Single crystal straight probe: Single crystal straight probe can be used for ultrasonic flaw detection of forgings, castings and welds. Dual crystal straight probe: The dual crystal straight probe can be used for ultrasonic flaw detection of forgings, castings and welds, mainly for flaw detection of thin workpieces. Commonly used double crystal straight probe specifications are: oblique probe: the oblique probe is mainly used for ultrasonic flaw detection of welds.
