High-frequency radar emits high-frequency microwave above 20GHz, according to the characteristics of the wave: speed = wavelength * frequency, we can learn that the wavelength of the high-frequency microwave of 24GHz is much shorter than the wavelength of radar waves in other frequency bands. Generally speaking, the shape of the solid material surface is inclined and rough, the smaller wavelength can ensure that the radar wave can be launched in the rough solid surface is reflected back to the radar probe. Therefore, high-frequency radar is mainly used in solid media and large-range measurement. Low-frequency radar emits microwave frequency in 100MHZ-6MHZ, mainly used in liquid media and small range measurement.

Compared with low frequency radar, high frequency radar has the following characteristics:


(1) High frequency vega radar type level transmitter (mainly refers to 26GHz and 24GHZ) has high energy, small beam angle, small antenna size and high accuracy.

(2) 26GHz radar wavelength 11mm, 6GHz radar wavelength 50mm, radar measurement of bulk material level, radar wave reflection mainly from the material surface of the diffuse reflection, the strength of the diffuse reflection is proportional to the size of the material, and inversely proportional to the wavelength, and most of the bulk material diameter is much smaller than 50mm, which is why the current 26HGz radar is a suitable choice for bulk material level measurement.

(3) In some small tank applications with small diameter and short height, the long antenna of 6GHz radar (300-400mm) invariably increases the blind area, and the poor directionality of 6GHz radar will produce multipath reflection in small tanks; 26GHz high frequency radar, with short antenna and good directionality, overcomes the shortcomings of 6GHz radar and is suitable for small tank measurement.

(4) Due to the harsh environment of the site, over time, the radar antenna will accumulate dirt, water vapor, etc. 26GHz radar level meter antenna is small, plus antenna cover shell largely improve the impact of dirt, water vapor; 6GHz radar antenna is large, plus antenna cover difficulties, and the instrument is heavy, cleaning difficulties

5)Because 26GHz radar antenna is big, it is very difficult to add radome, and the meter is heavy, and it is difficult to clean up


(6) The limit range of high frequency radar level meter can reach 70 meters, while the limit range of low frequency radar level meter is 35 meters, for some users who need a large measuring range, high frequency radar level meter is a reasonable choice.
