How to choose a static pressure level meter?

What problems should users pay attention to when choosing a static pressure level meter?

1. Temperature is an important factor

The temperature can directly affect the density of the measured medium, which requires continuous compensation calculation of the detected liquid level value according to the temperature. For example, the volume of the liquid medium with low density will expand after the temperature rises, and the liquid level will increase, but the hydrostatic pressure will not change too much. This results in inaccurate calculation results, such as low liquid level detection results.

Therefore, static pressure level gauges are most suitable for use in level detection applications where process constraints are known and medium density is known. If the liquid level detection process has a large fluctuation, or the density of the medium is unknown, then the auxiliary sensor is needed to compensate. Some level meters are integrated with temperature sensors, through which the temperature parameters of the liquid medium are collected for density compensation.

2. The properties of the liquid medium to be measured

In particular, the viscosity and solid composition content determine whether a traditional level gauge requires a pressure channel or a front end protective cap. When the liquid medium to be measured is a thin fluid medium that does not contain coarse particles, it is best to always use a level detector with a pressure channel. If the measured medium has a high viscosity or contains large particles, it is best to use a level meter with a front protective cap.

Compared with a gauge with a pressure channel, a gauge with a front end protective cap can avoid clogging of the pressure channel, or deposition, solidification or crystallization of the measured medium in the channel. The blockage of the pressure channel will slow down the detection speed of the level meter, and in extreme cases, it can not be accurately detected at all.

If the characteristics of the measured medium have been taken into account when selecting a traditional liquid level gauge, then a static pressure type liquid level gauge can be used reliably in the harshest operating environments. A level probe with a front protective cap or pressure channel is a type of level gauge suitable for underwater use, not only in dirt containing media, such as sewage, but also in pure liquid media such as fuel or groundwater.
