Basic principles of industrial PH electrodes

The basic principle of the industrial PH electrode is to insert two different electrodes in the measured solution, one of the electrodes changes with the change of the hydrogen ion concentration of the solution, called the measuring electrode; the other electrode has a fixed potential, called the reference Than the electrode. These two electrodes form a galvanic cell, and the pH value of the measured solution can be known by measuring the potential between the two electrodes. ⒈When the composite electrode is not in use, it can be fully immersed in potassium chloride solution. Never use washing liquid or other water-absorbing reagents to soak. ⒉Before use, check the bulb at the front end of the glass electrode. Under normal circumstances, the electrode should be transparent and free of cracks; the bulb should be filled with solution without bubbles. ⒊ When measuring a solution with a large concentration, try to shorten the measurement time and clean it carefully after use to prevent the test solution from sticking to the electrode and contaminating the electrode. ⒋After cleaning the electrode, do not wipe the glass membrane with filter paper, but apply filter paper to absorb it dry to avoid damaging the glass membrane, preventing cross-contamination, and affecting measurement accuracy. ⒌In the measurement, pay attention to the silver-silver chloride internal reference electrode of the electrode should be immersed in the chloride buffer solution in the bulb to avoid random jumps in the display part of the electrode. When using, be careful to shake the electrode lightly a few times. ⒍Ordinary electrodes cannot be used for strong acids, strong alkalis or other corrosive solutions. ⒎It is strictly forbidden to use it in dehydrating media such as absolute ethanol and potassium dichromate.
