How to Calibrate Magnetic Flow Meters in the Field

by:Kaidi Sensors     2022-09-08
Abstract: The information on how to calibrate the electromagnetic flowmeter meter on site is provided by the excellent flowmeter and flowmeter production and quotation manufacturers. The accuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter has been calibrated by the calibration line when it leaves the factory. However, at the use site, due to environmental conditions, fluid characteristics, and the instrument itself, such as damage to components, etc., the operation of the instrument may fail, which is necessary for the flowmeter after long-term use. More flowmeter manufacturers choose models and price quotations. You are welcome to inquire. The following is the details of the article on how to calibrate electromagnetic flowmeters on site. The accuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter has been calibrated by the calibration line when it leaves the factory. However, in the field of use, due to environmental conditions, fluid characteristics, and the instrument itself, such as damage to components, etc., it is necessary to perform a routine on-site calibration for the flowmeter after long-term use. Since the sensor of the electromagnetic flowmeter is installed on the pipeline, it is difficult to remove it and send it to the calibration line for inspection. At present, within the flow measurement range, the state and local governments do not have regulations and other regulations for online inspection of large-diameter flowmeters under field conditions. document. In order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the electromagnetic flowmeter after fault repair and long-term use, without affecting daily production, Ackert Instruments has introduced the following online calibration methods: 1. Conduct a safety insulation test on the electromagnetic flowmeter excitation coil , should be greater than 20MΩ. 2. The copper resistance test of the excitation coil of the electromagnetic flowmeter should be the same as the original factory value (when the ambient temperature is the same). 3. Test the electrode-to-ground resistance of the electromagnetic flowmeter sensor. If the resistance value is between 2 and 20kf, accompanied by charging and discharging, and the resistances of the two electrodes are similar, it is considered good. 4. Test the excitation current of the electromagnetic flowmeter converter, observe the value of its output and the original current of the converter, and the error does not exceed ±0.25mA. 5. Test the analog output and frequency output of the electromagnetic flowmeter converter, observe the linear change, and calculate the maximum linear error, which should not exceed ±0.5%. 6. For electromagnetic flowmeters above DN1200mm, the push-level NB should be tested, and the current error should not exceed 12mA. The above are my humble opinions, which are for reference only in your daily use. The above is the whole content of this article. You are welcome to inquire about the flowmeter selection and quotation of our factory. 'How to Calibrate an Electromagnetic Flow Meter in the Field'
