Try not to install the steam flowmeter in a place with mechanical vibration, such as the inlet and outlet of a reciprocating pump or compressor. Although many steam manufacturers have taken many measures to reduce the impact of vibration on steam flowmeters, for example, ROSEMOUNT8800D adopts mass balance sensing system and adaptive digital signal processing technology (ADSP), which provides excellent anti-vibration performance. But these measures can only reduce the impact of vibration, not fundamentally eliminate it. 2. The generation of steam must be in a stable flow field, so the steam flowmeter, like the throttling differential pressure flowmeter, has certain requirements for straight pipe sections. The length of the straight pipe section directly affects the rated accuracy of the steam flowmeter. Taking the DN100 steam flowmeter as an example, the length of the upstream straight pipe section is at least 10 times the pipe diameter, and the length of the downstream straight pipe section is at least 5 times the pipe diameter. After meeting this minimum straight run requirement, the flow rate can be corrected by a correction factor. This correction factor can be set through the device management software or a handheld operator as shown in Figure 1. 3. Under normal circumstances, steam flowmeters are installed in horizontal, vertical or inclined pipelines, which can meet the accuracy requirements. However, the best practice for installation on horizontal pipes is to have the vortex generator in a horizontal plane, which prevents sediment from disturbing the frequency of the vortex generator when measuring liquids. When measuring gases or vapors, the liquid is prevented from disturbing the frequency of the vortex generator. Fourth, in order to ensure the measurement accuracy, the steam flowmeter should be calibrated regularly. The calibration of steam is generally done in the factory or laboratory, but it should be noted that the calibration environment of the factory is different from the actual use environment. For example, the factory calibration of ROSEMOUNT8800D is performed on the SCH40 pipeline by default. However, in practical engineering applications, it is definitely not possible for all the pipe wall thickness of SCH40, so there is a certain inner diameter difference, which should be corrected by the correction coefficient in practical application. 5. The steam flowmeter should be installed after the pipeline is flushed and purged to prevent impurities from entangling the steam generator and affecting the generation and frequency of the vortex. This is to ensure a stable measurement performance after the test machine. The above are the five maintenance points of the steam flowmeter.
