The common materials for industrial instrument housings are plastic, aluminum alloy and stainless steel. Stainless steel, as a high-quality metal material, occupies an important position in the manufacture of industrial instrument housings. Its excellent corrosion resistance, food and drug health and safety, mechanical properties and aesthetics, making the stainless steel shell in the industrial instrumentation is widely used. However, different working conditions on the instrument housing material has different standard requirements, in the procurement of industrial instruments we can according to the working conditions of the environment and the relevant standards to choose the instrument housing material.The advantages and disadvantages of the above common housing materials and the applicable working conditions are described below:Plastic housing:Industrial instrument housings made of plastic have light weight, low cost, good insulation, and the processing and manufacturing of plastic is relatively easy. In addition, plastic material also has corrosion resistance, especially suitable for some special anti-corrosion working conditions. However, the plastic material is relatively brittle, not hard enough, easy to be damaged by external forces, but also easy to aging, relatively short life. Plastic shells are mainly used in conventional working conditions, such as: electroplating, pharmaceutical, chemical areas, no explosion-proof requirements and corrosive or insulating requirements of the environmental conditions.Aluminum housing:Aluminum alloy has many advantages in industrial instrument housings, such as high strength, light weight, corrosion resistance, good thermal conductivity and plasticity. However, it is relatively high cost, difficult to process and requires high welding process. Aluminum alloy housing can be used in most working conditions due to its unique material characteristics, such as; food, pharmaceutical, petroleum, chemical, water conservancy, shipping and other industries, but in the strong acid, alkali corrosive chemicals containing special working conditions can not be used.Stainless steel housing:Stainless steel shell in the industrial instrumentation with superior corrosion resistance, strong and stable mechanical properties, beautiful and easy to clean and other advantages, but compared to plastic and aluminum alloy, stainless steel shell price is much higher. Stainless steel shell has high strength and good toughness, able to withstand large external impact and extrusion; able to resist acid, alkali, salt and other corrosive media, in harsh environments can still maintain stability and durability. More used in food, pharmaceutical, coal, petroleum, chemical, ship, ocean engineering and other environmental conditions. Stainless steel shell for some special requirements of the working conditions is a must, such as coal mines, ocean engineering, etc. on the stainless steel industrial instrument housing has clear requirements. In the super pressure, corrosion resistance, aluminum alloy and plastic material shell is unable to meet the relevant standard requirements. In the food, pharmaceutical industry, industrial instrumentation shell selection, due to considerations of aesthetics, health and safety and easy to clean and other characteristics will also be designated to use stainless steel shell.
