Why do turbine flowmeters have requirements for the measured medium?

There are many sayings about turbine flowmeters, and of course they are widely used, but some measured media are different, so turbine flowmeters cannot be used. Turbine flowmeter is widely used in all walks of life with its unique advantages, but it also has strict requirements on the measured medium, let's analyze it below. First of all, the medium fluid measured by the turbine flowmeter should be in a turbulent flow state: according to the flow characteristics of the turbine flowmeter, it can be known that when the medium is in a laminar flow state, the instrument coefficient changes greatly with the change of the flow rate. In the state, the meter coefficient hardly changes with the change of flow. In order to ensure the measurement accuracy of the turbine flowmeter, the measured medium should be in a turbulent state. Secondly, the turbine flowmeter is generally only used to measure the medium with high cleanliness: at present, the bearings of most turbine flowmeters are spherical bearings, so there are high requirements for the cleanliness of the measured medium. If the medium contains particulate impurities, it will cause the bearing to wear quickly, and if there are fiber impurities, it will be wrapped around the turbine blades, affecting the normal rotation of the turbine. In practical applications, an effective filter should be installed upstream of the turbine flowmeter. In addition, turbine flowmeters are usually only used for low-viscosity single-phase fluids: through practical application and verification, when turbine flowmeters measure low-viscosity media, their instrument coefficients hardly change with the flow rate. When the viscosity of the medium increases, the linearity of the turbine flowmeter will become very poor, and the meter coefficient will also change greatly with the change of the flow rate, so it is difficult to achieve the due measurement accuracy. When the measured medium is a gas-liquid two-phase flow, the flow rate of the medium will become very unstable, resulting in a large measurement error.
