Measurement principle of electromagnetic flowmeters Electromagnetic flowmeters measure various types of electromagnetic flowmeters. A flow meter for liquid and slurry flow with a certain conductivity. Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction is the basis of electromagnetic flowmeters. When a conductor moves to cut magnetic lines of force, an induced electromotive force will be generated in the conductor. This principle applies to the flow of conductive fluid through a measuring tube perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field, as shown in Figure 1. The calculation formula of the signal voltage UE is UEu003dB•D•v(1). In the formula: the signal voltage UE is proportional to the magnetic induction intensity B, the electrode spacing D and the average flow velocity v. Since the magnetic induction intensity B and the electrode spacing D are constants, there is a proportional relationship between the signal voltage UE and the average flow velocity v. The formula for calculating the volume flow is UE~qv. The signal voltage UE is linearly proportional to the flow rate. As shown in Fig. 1, the induced electromotive force in the fluid is measured by two electrodes located diametrically opposite each other. It can be seen from formula (1) that the parameters such as temperature, density, pressure, electrical conductivity of the measured fluid medium, and the liquid-solid composition ratio of the liquid-solid two-phase fluid medium will not affect the measurement results. As long as the measured medium conforms to axisymmetric flow (such as laminar flow or turbulent flow), it will not affect the measurement results. Therefore, the electromagnetic flowmeter is a true volume flowmeter. As long as the electromagnetic flowmeter is actually calibrated with ordinary water, it can measure the volume flow of any other conductive fluid medium without any correction. 2. Characteristics of electromagnetic flowmeter (1) The measuring tube is a smooth straight pipe section, without moving and blocking parts, and the pressure loss is small. For large-diameter pipelines, the energy saving effect is significant; (2) The output of the flowmeter is linear with the flow rate relationship, the measurement caliber range is wide, including DN3~DN3400; (3) The measurement range is wide, and different linings can be selected to measure various high temperature and corrosive media; (4) The installation requirements are low, according to the use experience, the front straight pipe section is 5D, the rear straight pipe section is 3D (D is the nominal diameter of the pipe) to meet the accuracy requirements; (5) The measurement accuracy is high, conventionally up to 0.3%~0.5%; (6) The measured medium must be a conductive liquid, The conductivity is generally ≥20 μS/cm. The measured medium cannot contain a large amount of ferromagnetic substances or bubbles, and cannot be used for the measurement of gas, steam or non-conductive medium.
