A. Pulse radar level meter

  Pulse radar level meter adopts high frequency and narrow pulse to modulate the microwave source signal, in the form of a beam to transmit a fixed frequency which is also the carrier frequency pulse wave, reflected on the surface of the medium and then received by the receiver, the time travel of the pulse determines the distance from the transmitting antenna to the surface of the medium.

  Advantages:

  4、Interference from agitators or other obstacles can be eliminated by advanced and versatile software.

  Disadvantages:

  1, most economical pulsed microwave level meters use 5.8GHz or 6.3GHz microwave frequency, its radiation angle is large (about 30 °), easy to produce interference echoes on the vessel wall or internal components. Although increasing the size of the horn antenna can slightly reduce the emission angle, but the volume increases and it is inconvenient to use;

  2, when the liquid level fluctuation and foam, the situation becomes more complicated, signal scattering from the propagation path or absorb most of the energy, so that the signal returned to the radar level meter receiving antenna more weak or no signal return;;

  3, when there are stirrers, pipes and other obstacles in the storage tank, these obstacles will also reflect the electromagnetic wave signal, thus producing a false level signal.

Second, guide wave radar level meter

  In order to make up for the above deficiencies of pulse radar level meter, people have developed and produced guided wave radar level meter. When it meets the surface of the measured medium, part of the pulse of the radar level meter is reflected to form an echo and returns to the pulse transmitting device along the same path, the distance between the transmitting device and the surface of the measured medium is proportional to the propagation time of the pulse between them, and the level height is calculated. The distance between the transmitting device and the measured medium surface is proportional to the pulse propagation time in between, and the level height is calculated.

Advantages:

  1, strong suppression of steam and foam, does not affect the normal conduct of the measurement;;

  2、Measurement is not affected by the density of liquid as well as the looseness of solid materials, temperature, and dust when adding materials;

  3、Less maintenance, higher accuracy and reliability and longer service life.

  Disadvantages: The guided wave radar level sensor belongs to contact radar, which can not be applied in occasions with high requirements for sanitation.
